If you have not read any of Joanne Lecuyer’s books, you must!  The illustrations in them are phenomenal and unique!  This is a small chapter book that would be great for young readers.  Juliane is a young witch who lives on the edge of a magical forest.  This book shows great friendship and kindness skills for children.   Juliane has a vision about a very large egg.  She has absolutely no idea what the vision means, or where she would ever find an egg that large.  As the story unfolds, you will follow Juliane and her cat Magicus as they embark on an adventure to find the egg.  Along the way, magical forest creatures will help them fulfill this visions purpose.  This story is creative and fun, readers will enjoy every page of this book!

Kaptain Vamp by Joanne Lecuyer

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

This is the first book I had ever read by Joanne Lecuyer and I have to say WOW!  I absolutely loved “Kaptian Vamp”!  This book is for young adults or a little younger as it is a small chapter book.  There are also illustrations through out which are amazing!

You know, when you think of a Vampire, you think they could never live among humans as they have a slight hunger for their blood, but meet Kaptain Vamp, who’s actual name is Allistaire.  Allistaire is half vampire, half human and he is on a mission to show humans that not all vampires are distrustful and scary!  He and his family have always used their abilities for good things, which sets them apart.  Allistaire decides one day that he is going to do everything in his power to help humans, which leads him to become Kaptain Vamp!

Such a well written book that many ages will enjoy!  Lecuyer takes the average vampire story and turns it into something wonderful that readers can learn from.

Reconstructing Amelia by Kimberly McCreight

Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

This book was suggested to me by a friend.  I had seen it on so thought I’d give it a try.  This book reminded me SO much of the show I used to watch, Gossip Girl.  There is so much that goes on in this story, I don’t even know where to begin.  A single mother, who is always at the office making sure her only daughter has everything that she could possibly need.  Hardly being home and almost always not on time, Kate resents her job sometimes, but it’s all worth it for Amelia.   Amelia is an amazing student and teenager, never having done anything risky and always has her head on tight.  That is until  she is invited into a ‘secret’ group, whom she swore to her best friend she would never be apart of, but how could she say no?

You will read through all the insane trials these girls are put through for this ‘secret’ group, the people who are guarding these girls as well as the results of such things.  This more about the story leading up to Amelia’s death.  Up to the point where is is caught cheating and to the point where has been found dead after falling from the school’s roof.  To make things worse, her mother was late to picking her up from being expelled from school, only to arrive to find her amazing daughter to be gone.

Nothing seems to add up, especially when Kate gets a text that says “Amelia Didn’t Jump”.   To find out more about this heart-stopping story, you have to pick up this book!  There was not a time when I wanted to put it down!  Reconstructing Amelia is a story of secrets and lies, of love and betrayal, of trusted friends and vicious bullies. It’s about how well a parent ever really knows a child and how far one mother will go to vindicate the memory of a daughter whose life she could not save.
