Sierra: When did you first start writing and when did you finish your first book?
Marie: I started my first book in my series Pack Law in April and Last year and it took me 16 weeks to complete it. I had no idea what to expect or what would come out of it.
Sierra: Tell us a little bit about your first book or the first book in the series.
Marie: Pack Law: Poor Ava has no idea that while working one night she would get caught up in a war between two rival Werewolf Packs. The alpha of the Black Mountain Pack, Tristan wants to keep order and peace among his kind and keep the humans unaware of their presence. The alpha of the Appalachian Pack, Michael wants to expose the werewolves to the human population and use the humans for his own personal gain breaking pack law.
Every werewolf community has to have laws in place to protect them from the humans and the humans from the werewolves.
“Zane is the beta of the Black Mountain pack that is led by Tristan, their alpha. Months back, Tristan was forced to have a challenge with the Appalachian Pack’s alpha, Michael. He had kidnapped Tristan’s mate and his sister, Elaina. Tristan was forced to kill him after their challenge. Tristan had won the challenge and Michael attacked him forcing Tristan to kill him. Zane and Elaina were elected to stay with the Appalachian Pack to re-educate them on our pack laws and keeping their existence from the humans. Zane is now in charge of the pack as the acting alpha and Elaina initiates new pack members. Zane starts to notice that there are signs of stray wolves on their lands and tries to investigate. He has his beta, Salvador, to help in the investigation. Salvador believes in what Zane is trying to do with pack. Zane has a special ability he was born with. He is able to read other people’s minds. He has had this gift since he was little and has never known how to deal with it. He uses different methods of quieting the voices. When Zane was a young man, the alphas wife introduced him into the world of BDSM and he frequents the clubs to have full control of his submissives. He feels that in his regular life with the voices that this is the only way to quiet them. There is one of his submissives named Miranda that gets turned into a wolf and tries to become him mate during his journey with this pack. She was a human while he frequented the club. His old alpha, Tristan, has decided to make him Alpha of the Appalachian Pack since he has been with the pack and acting alpha since the challenge. Zane and Elaina have always had this sexual chemistry between them but never acted on it. Now that they are together at the pack and it gets harder and harder to not look at each other that way. Zane tries really hard to keep her away thinking he is not right for her. He doesn’t want her to know what things he has been up to in the club and his lifestyle choices. He fears that she would hate him and never see him again. They are finally bound for each other and mated. There is a new faction in the pack with the arrival of a male that is packless. He turns out to be Michael’s brother and is secretly trying to take the pack back and finish what his brother had started by exposing the werewolves to the human population. His name is Jaxson.”
Sierra: Is anything in your book based on real life experiences or purely all imagination?
Marie: I am a Respiratory Therapist and I wanted to incorporate that into my books some how.
Sierra: Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either growing up or as
Marie: Oh Yes! Laurell K. Hamilton and J.R.Ward
Sierra: Do you ever experience writers block?
Marie: I wouldn’t say I get writers block. I have other book ideas that plague me and overwhelm me at times keeping me from finishing certain projects I am working on.
Sierra: Is there an author that you would really like to meet?
Marie: Laurell K. Hamilton
Sierra: Will you have a new book coming out soon? If so, can you tell us about it?
Marie: I have a book I am currently working on called Night Terrors. This books is something out of my comfort zone. I have thought about this book alot so I have started it and it is doing well. It is about a 16 year old boy named Jon that have been seeing shadow figures in his home after visiting an unmarked grave yard. His family never stays in any place very long and this shadow figure follows them wherever they go. He is experiencing attacks from the entity and no one ever sees it but him. He has been experiencing this for 8 years now. He has been to several phyciatrists and doctors that diagnose him with night terrors. He has all of the classic symptoms including the injuries he endures from the showdow figure.
Sierra: If you could go back and do it all over again, is there any aspect of your first novel or getting
it published that you would change?
Marie: Yes, I think I would have made my book longer.
Sierra: Do you have any advise to give to aspiring writers?
Marie: Anything is possible if you just try. Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. I never imagined in a million years that I would be an author and here I am. My one wish and goal is to be widely recognized and as famous as those authors I want to be like. I want my readers to take pleasure in reading my books. My biggest advice also is to not stick with one genre. You have to step out of your comfort zone.
Sierra: Is there anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Marie: I want to thank everyone for their support and for me this is a work in progress. I hope to bring many good reads and hopefully more fans.
Thank you Marie!
