Who was the girl in the grave? And what did she do to Lucy?
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
This is first book with two parts of The Unseen series by Richie Tankersley Cusick. This book looks really huge, but the words are large so this was a quick read! I’m going to say this book kept me on my toes!
One night, Lucy is out walking, it’s late and starting to rain. All of the sudden she gets a feeling that someone or something is following her. Freaked out, she runs into a cemetery to evade whatever could possible be following her. She feels like whatever it is, is getting closer with each step so she picks up the pace. She slips and stumbles into an open grave—only to discover she is not alone in there…now at this point before I read any further my heart was already pounding! Lucy manages to escape, but she doesn’t get away unscathed. She begins having terrifying visions and dreams—and she still can’t shake the feeling of an unseen presence, always watching, waiting…Who was the girl in the grave? And what has she done to Lucy?
Lucy has just moved in with her “step-aunt” and “step-cousin” after her mothers death due to cancer. She finds it hard to relate to this family, in a town where she doesn’t know anyone and feels all alone. Even finding it hard to unpack her things into her new room. Lucy’s first day at her new school, she runs into a boy, Byron, who claims to know what happened with Lucy and the things she is going through/is going to go through.
Throughout the first book, she gets closer to Byron, without any actual romantic things happening, and tries to pretend that things happening to her are coincidences and have perfectly logical reasons for happening and possibly don’t exist. Lucy starts to believe that she is crazy, it’s all because of the accident (that she went through at the end of the first book and very beginning of the second, which I will not spoil, but was very intense and sad and with an unexpected end) because everyone around her doesn’t believe her. With another cliffhanger ending, that makes me want to pick up the next book much sooner than I’d expected.
This book was so exciting and horrifying at the same time! I’ve got the next book sitting right beside me now and can’t wait to dig in!
